Coveralls

I know I haven't posted in a while, but with school in full swing, life has been pretty busy. The boys are taking swim lessons on Saturday mornings. Tomorrow will be the third week, and they are loving every minute. I don't have any pictures of them swimming, because Patrick and I are in the water with them during their lessons. It is a blast, and I'm so glad that we signed them up!

Here is Tony in some coveralls. His great Grandpa Tony wears coveralls just like this, so we couldn't resist!! We have been searching high and low for 2 1/2 years, and Grandma found some!

Hawaii

I had the great fortune of going to Hawaii with my friend Joyce. We stayed at the Hale Koa Resort for five nights. It was right on the beach, and could not have been located on a better spot...Of course I missed Patrick and the boys, so I am hoping that we can go back once they are older! These are some very personable sea lions that we saw at Sea Life Park.
If you look closely, you can see two Hawaiin green sea turtles. This was taken onboard our submarine ride. (see below)

This is Diamond Head. It erupted only once, roughly 200,000 years ago. I spent a morning and hiked it. It made me realize two things...One: I love geology...Two: Man am I out of shape!

A Hawaiin Green Sea Turtle basking in the sun. Have I mentioned that my favorite animal is a sea turtle?? The day that we went snorkling, I saw four right below me. It was AMAZING!!!

My little cowboys

Here's a few pictures of the night we got back from New York. They were both clowning around, as always. Glad to see they weren't traumatized...

New York trip

Patrick and Mark at the Mets vs. Yankees game at Citi Field

Time Square

Grand Central Station

Patrick and I just got back from our trip to New York. My Mom and Stan watched Logan, while Patrick's Mom and Dad watched Tony. No small feat for 5 days... We are very thankful that we have such great grandparents for our boys. There is no way that we would have been able to see half of what we did in New York toting them around. It was way too hot, with too much walking. With that said...here are some shots around town. We rode the subway everywhere, and got to see some great sites!

Backpack

Backpack, backpack...Tony's new found love is Dora the Explorer. So of course he needed to get a backpack! He was pretty cute this morning. He was clutching his backpack while eating breakfast...he didn't dare let go!

Memorial Day

The boys had so much fun playing in the rain today. Who would have thought it would be in the 70's in San Antonio on Memorial day weekend?

New trick...

Logan is officially everywhere...He has been climbing the stairs for a few weeks, and it is one of his favorite things to do. He also says, "Spongebob, uh-oh, and woof woof!"

Easter

Easter was tons of fun this year. Tony is now officially an expert at hunting eggs. The best part was when we told him that Logan didn't have many eggs, so he offered to share his! What a good big brother...

He is helping Logan carry his basket!

Score! This is Logan's lone egg rescue...He even managed to get it in the basket!

I'm still looking...

Birthday Party

It was a fun day. Lots of family and friends came to celebrate Logan's birthday. It is always nice to spend time with all of your favorite people! I can't believe he is already walking...

April 4th

Even though March 31st was the day Logan was born, April 4th holds special meaning for me. This is the day that Logan had his heart surgery. We trusted the surgeon, but I was so scared and nervous. It is amazing what a hold a child can take on your heart. This picture was taken right after his surgery. It may seem gruesome, but Patrick and I both felt instantly relieved once we saw the color back to his feet. Logan is a fighter.

So it is appropriate that his first birthday party be on this day. It is a GREAT day to celebrate! I will post pictures of the party soon!

3 days old

Everything was great until one of the nurses noticed that his heart rate was elevated, and that the pulse in his legs was very faint. She pointed this out to our pediatrician (thankfully he has an extensive background in cardiology), ran a few tests, and called in a pediatric cardiologist. This all happened the morning of the 2nd. Patrick was on his way back to the hospital, and my Mom was with me. When he walked in, he knew something was wrong. I was near hysterical, and couldn't really talk. They hadn't told us much at that point, just enough to get me pretty scared. Once the cardiologist and pediatrician came in and talked to us, we had more information, but were still in shock. They were going to transfer him to a bigger hospital, and I needed get hold of my doctor to get discharged. They had just taken chest x-rays of me for all the coughing. I convinced them to let me go, and we went to Methodist Hospital's NICU. They took him by ambulance, and was already hooked up to so many things...

We talked to the surgeon, and finally got a little relief. As far as heart conditions go, this was a relatively simple procedure and he had done the same procedure a couple of times in the past weeks. He was the most competent man I have ever met, and felt reassured that Logan was in good hands. Here are some pre-operating pictures. Because of all the wires, they only let me hold him right before he went in for surgery. This was day five, April 4th.

Logan is one year old today!

A year ago today we were welcoming our newest member, Logan. The delivery was a cesarean, since my previous one had to be. It was perfectly 'normal'. The only thing that was different from Tony's delivery was that I had a horrible cough that eventually turned into bronchitis. If you have ever recovered from a c-section then you know that it is not fun coughing...

Everything seemed normal. There was no rushing him into the NICU after birth for 'grunting', unlike Tony. He started nursing right away. Everything was great...until...

Dinner

Tonight Logan and Tony helped me cook dinner. I tried to make the beef tips that RaNell made when she was here. They were alright, but definitely not the original...
